.NET framework ??? Empty .NET framework ???

Can any one explain what is .NET is it a framework or anything else. Kindly can anyone give me a little explanation about .NET?

.NET is a framework created by Microsoft that developer can develop applications more easily. Now you probably have the question that what's a framework "Framework is the branch of code knows as libraries that programmers can call without having to write it explicitly.
Microsoft said that you can develop in any language using our .NET framework because there are thousands of libraries in it and that's why it become so popular.
